Royal Opera House - Join The Chorus

What it was

Join the Chorus follows the Royal Opera House chorus through rehearsal, dress rehearsal and the performance of Nabucco, passing through backstage areas otherwise closed to the public and onto the stage. Spatial audio captured during the performance does much of the work; it shows how far sound goes towards a convincing experience. Directed by Tom Nelson, produced by Adam May and Dominic Collins, with Chris Campkin on VR camera.

Technical approach

Shot on the Jaunt One camera, with the Motion Impossible Mantis remote dolly used to glide the camera through the staging and props areas so the audience seems to move through the house themselves.
