About
What Vision3 is.
Vision3 is a London studio for stereo 3D and immersive production. We are brought in when the stereo or immersive layer of a production cannot afford to be an afterthought: when a studio has committed to a 3D release, when a documentary is going into the field with native rigs, when a venue needs a piece that works for four strangers at once.
The record covers a wide range. Warner Bros brought us back for nine features over nine years. David Attenborough's natural history films came to us three times running. Conservation International made four pieces with us in four years and all four were selected for Tribeca. In between sit a black-and-white documentary about Nick Cave, a fashion film at a thousand frames a second and the 2012 Olympics for the BBC.
The people who plan the stereo are the people who finish it. That continuity, from the first conversation with a director to the depth grade, is what the studio was built for.
How we work
- 01
The right tools for the job
The tools follow the story. That has meant teams of hundreds on studio features, and two people with native rigs on a South Atlantic island filming penguins.
- 02
Problems solved in the open
Productions often come to us the first time they work in a new medium, wary of its limits. One of the first things we do is to demonstrate the new possibilities and creative tools that the medium offer.
- 03
From consultancy to full production
We work as a specialist unit inside a larger crew or take a piece from concept to delivery. Reviews, depth grading and delivery happen with us or inside the production's own post pipeline.

Founders
Chris Parks
Stereo Supervisor and Creative Director
Chris was the primary 3D creative on Vision3's Warner Bros features, from Jack the Giant Slayer to No Time to Die, designing how depth served each film and directing the conversion and stereo VFX through post. Following Gravity, for which he won the Lumiere Award for Best Stereography, he has continued to set the stereo 3D approach on some of the industry's highest-profile releases.
His stereo work goes back more than thirty years: large-scale museum exhibits, IMAX and special-venue films including Wings of Courage, Bugs! and Plankton 3D, and a series of 3D books published in thirteen languages. He co-founded Vision3 in 2008 to support productions creatively and technically, with a specific focus on what stereo 3D adds to a story.
Alongside the stereo work he shoots specialist 2D material for features and commercials, including sequences for Darren Aronofsky's The Fountain and Terrence Malick's The Tree of Life.
Adam May
Director of Production
Adam has been with Vision3 since its formation in 2008 and leads the studio's immersive productions, with a particular emphasis on interactive VR and location based experiences. He originated the Conservation International thread with Chris Campkin and Chris Parks, and directed Critical Distance with Chris Campkin.
He works with studios and production companies on how immersive content is structured and produced, and with press and public bodies on the case for better 3D filmmaking. He created and runs the 3D Creative Summit, a two-day London conference whose speakers have included James Cameron, Ang Lee, Sir David Attenborough, Brian May and Jean-Pierre Jeunet.
Adam is a board member of the Advanced Imaging Society, formerly the International 3D Society.
In the industry
- Adam May co-founded and runs the 3D Creative Summit, the UK's main gathering for stereo 3D practitioners; Chris Parks has spoken at it every year.
- Vision3 has contributed to industry training through Skillset UK, BAFTA and VFX Advantage, making the case that stereo 3D is a narrative tool and training production departments to treat it that way.
- Chris Parks has spoken on stereo and immersive craft at CinemaCon, in Munich and at Ravensbourne, and wrote publicly on the subject during the 3D revival.
