JOHN CARTER (2012)
Production Company: Disney
Director: Andrew Stanton
Stereo Supervisor: Angus Cameron
Inspiring some of the biggest films in history including Star Wars, Avatar and Superman - the legendary sci-fi fantasy story written almost 100 years ago finally makes it to the screen in spectacular fashion. Academy Award winning director Andrew Stanton (Wall E) has chosen 3D to capture the scale and excitement of his first live action film.
Vision3's Angus Cameron served as Stereo Supervisor for Post Converted 3D material delivered by London-based vendor Cinesite. Working closely with Pixar's Bob Whitehill, Scott Willman and Cinesite's talented Stereo team, Angus was able to deliver a ground breaking, immersive 3D conversion.
"The constant challenge with Post Conversion is the struggle to achieve believable true depth, and this is something that has hindered several 3D projects to date. With JC, I was lucky to be able to utilise my experience Depth Grading native 3D projects - and work with a great set up at Cinesite to establish a really rewarding 3D experience". - Angus Cameron
“I had the pleasure of working with Angus on the 3D conversion of a major Hollywood film and can recommend him highly … Whether it be a subtle approach to 3D or an exercise in full-on 3D extremism, Angus has the flexibility and the eye to deliver consistent choices to match any goal … Particularly in 3D conversion, there can be an incredible amount of detail work to be poured over frame by frame to insure accuracy and avoid the look of poor conversion. Having worked with Angus daily for months on our film, his eye was invaluable to checking every image and finding every little flaw.
Angus and VISION3 have the creative flexibility, technical experience and quality eye needed to be an excellent Stereo Post Conversion provider.” – Bob Whitehall, Pixar.
